How to Score 95+ in Class XII Accountancy Boards

Accountancy is often feared by Class XII Commerce students due to its lengthy papers and complex entries. However, it is also one of the most scoring subjects in the board exams. With a structured approach and consistent practice, scoring 95+ is highly achievable.

Here are the key strategies designed by our expert faculty (Ex-PwC, Ex-EY, ACCA):

1. Master High-Weightage Chapters First

Not all chapters carry equal weight. Prioritize your preparation in this order:

  • Partnership Accounts: Focus on Admission, Retirement, and Death of a Partner.
  • Company Accounts: Focus intensely on Share Forfeiture, Re-issue of Shares, and Issue of Debentures.
  • Analysis of Financial Statements: Master the Cash Flow Statement and Ratio Analysis.

2. Working Notes Carry Step-Marks

Many students rush to balance the Balance Sheet and ignore the working calculations. In CBSE board marking:

  • Up to 50% of a question's marks are allocated to clean, step-by-step working notes.
  • Always show calculations for Goodwill adjustment, sacrificing ratios, and share forfeiture amounts clearly.

3. Time Management & Mock Exams

Accountancy papers are notorious for being long.

  • Solve at least 10 sample papers under strict 3-hour exam conditions.
  • Dedicate the initial 15-minute reading time solely to selecting options in the choice questions.
